SPECIAL PROJECT VALUE LINE - Research Paper Example Specifically, theses are the production approach, the expenditure approach, and the income approach. In my forecast, I focused on the real GDP as an indicator of economic growth in the US in 2015. Precisely, this type of the GDP examines a topic of interest to the public as everyone wants to understand the performance of the total goods or service. As an economic indicator, the GDP is imperative because it provides information about the size of the economy as well as its performance (Madigan,Ã 2015). When the GDP experiences a growth rate, it indicates that the economy is in a healthy status. Explained broadly, an increase in the real GDP is a sign of an economic growth and predicts the possibility of increased employment and a decrease in the inflation rates. The strong economic growth as indicated in the trend of the GDP suggests that the US labor market will expand compared to the previous year. Specifically, the Wall Street Journal forecast that unemployment will decline from 5.6 to 5.2 percent by December 2015 compared to the same time in 2014 (Madigan,Ã 2015). The tight labor market interprets to an increase in income rising from 1.7 percent to 2.6 percent in 2014 and 2015 respectively. If this prediction is correct, the US economy will experience the highest and fastest wage growth since 2008. Using three reliable international forecasting agencies, I obtained the average of the presented GDPs to determine the perceived performance of the US economy in 2015. The table below represents the quarterly GDPs from Wall Street Journal, the Conference Board, and the Well Fargo, US economic forecast (The Conference Board, 2015; The Wall Street Journal, 2015; Wells Fargo, U.S. Economic Forecast, 2015). As observed from the table, the three forecasting agencies predict an increase in the national real GDP. As seen from the average in the quarterly forecasts, the GDP will rise from 2.2 percent in the first quarter to 2.9% in

Teacher accountability Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Teacher accountability - Essay Example It will also argue in favor of releasing these evaluation results to the public. Additionally, the paper will include the arguments that may oppose the inclusions of the above recommendations in the evaluation programs. Evaluation programs The implementation of change has been reluctant as teachers feel their efforts in the classroom are not effectively considered in the evaluation programs (Nathan, 2009). According to Nathan (2009), the activities in the classroom should be vastly included in the evaluation programs. The author further argues that the activities in the classroom can change the level at which students are exposed to quality education. Evaluation programs used in evaluating programs are; I. Classroom activities Classroom activities refer to the tutor initiatives created in the classroom setting. When evaluating teachers, their efforts in the classroom should constitute a majority of the tools used. This is because teachers spend most of their institutional time in cla ssrooms and acquiring instructor skills. This makes it fair for any evaluation process to greatly consider these efforts. Lareau (1987) argues that classroom evaluation should be the only tool to be considered when evaluating teachers; thirty percent inclusion in the evaluation programs would be important in understanding the ways in which tutors perform in classrooms (Lareau, 1987). Classroom activities make ups seventy percent of all the evaluation tools used on students (Nathan, 2009). Classroom activities include: Continuous assessment tests- written or oral test during mid-terms and the beginning of the term Student participation in group projects- this includes assessments on a studentââ¬â¢s ability to work in a group and their success in it. Writing projects and research papers- this evaluates a studentââ¬â¢s ability to carry out their own analysis on specific topic as guided by the tutor Routine assignments- routine assignments refer to activities assigned by teachers in regards to research question on a specific learning task Creation of assessment personal assessment tools- tutors help students develop personal assessment tools that help then evaluate their classroom progress Daily class attendance II. Feedback from principles In traditional evaluation programs, principals provided all the required information about teachers in a particular institution. A principalââ¬â¢s contribution can be based on friendship or any other social ills. In this case, principals should only provide the curriculum that an institution uses for verification of the teachersââ¬â¢ activities (Nathan, 2009). This is important because value-added data presented by teachers in the classroom are based on the institutionââ¬â¢s curriculum which is mostly created and scrutinized by principles. This argument also supports the fact that value-added data should be included in the programs that evaluate teachers. III. Requirements from the curriculum Lareau (1987) argues that teachers rarely operate under their own consent, which means that the curriculum provided to them by the government is what they present to the classroom. The only way to be fair in evaluating teachers is through the consideration of the curriculum and how the curriculum is presented in the classroom. 30% of the value-added data based on the curriculum
Working in Organisation Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Working in Organisation - Case Study Example As a result, Boyle placed Fred with Eric Brown. He was a seasoned foreman and experienced production supervisor who had been with the company since he "left school" at the age of sixteen. Eric and Fred began working together with Eric training him to become a supervisor, and Fred attempting to learn the company and ways in which he could effectively manage its employees. Moreover, as time progressed, and Eric and Fred worked more together, it became apparent, especially to Boyle, that the two employees did not work well together. In addition, Boyle knew that, if Eric and Fred were not working well together, they were not learning together either, and Fred was not learning to be an effective supervisor. Eric and Fred perceived each other to be ignorant, incompetent individuals who both lacked the intelligence and skill regarding the company's welfare. They were very disagreeable concerning the supervisory measures, and they did not favor the other's opinion. Eric was a seasoned employee in his mid-50s and, having been with the company since the age of sixteen, he had earned his current position of foreman, working his way up through the "ends and outs" of the company. Further, since Eric had left school at sixteen, he did not have a formal education. Nevertheless, he has the experience and respect of his employees. Therefore, Eric resented Fred for being able to be hired into the company with his college degree and little to no experience. Equally important, Fred was directly hired as a management trainee which meant that he would soon be promoted to a supervisory position. He didn't have to work his way up through the company as Eric had done. As a result, Eric did not believe that the company's generous treatment to Fred was fair and adequate, especially since he had to earn his position over time. Eric seems to be a fair, hard-working employee that is very competent and capable of performing his job to the best of his abilities.Still, Eric does not appreciate the company's generous treatment to Fred simply because he has a college degree. He does not want to believe that, someday, he could possibly be "booted out" of the company in which he has worked so hard simply because his ideas and work ethics are not up-to-date and not "based on some obscure piece of theory." On the other hand, Fred, similarly, perceives Eric as an aged, overworked employee who will not be accepting to an employee of the younger generation. He believes that Eric does not trust him to perform well and supervise other employees while on the job.Since Fred does have a college degree, it is possible that he perceives himself to be better than Eric on some level, particularly regarding knowledge. According to Dan Hupp, president of the Pittsburgh Human Resource Planning Society and owner of his own consulting firm, one of the main issues encountered within the present workforce is the "generational issue," as stated in "Younger bosses older employees vs. younger bosses vs. older employees" by Johnna A. Pro.Hupp believes that it's important for the younger generation to realize the importance of the older employees. He states that, "[The older employees] have an

Film "Fight Club" Analyze Research Paper
Film "Fight Club" Analyze - Research Paper Example stead, of shedding light on these critical issues in the society, events in these films often trivialize them, with certain stylized aesthetics that brings out the cynisms, irony as well as excessive violence. In most cases, the kinds of films exhibited in these films often turns to senseless pathology, brutality as well as a certain kind of indifference to the sufferings that people face (Wartenberg 42). This kind of violent representations ends up becoming the starting point of political commentary. This paper examines the aspects of violence and how it is represented differently in the film, focusing on how masculinity influences various occurrences in the society represented. The theme of violence represented in ââ¬Å"fight Clubâ⬠indicates the most crucial role played by most of films at the Hollywood. Besides playing the entertainment role, films composed in this kind of approach act as important public pedagogues through articulation of knowledge to its particular effects. In this case, it purposely attempts to influence the manner in which knowledge and other forms of social identities are established within limited ranges of effective social relations (Ndalianis 51). It is important to realize that these forms of violence and masculinity are described as being radically indeterminate according to their particular meaning. Any kind of meanings that are determined by the respecting factors are supposed to be prescribed by the text itself and not any other ways. ââ¬Å"Fight Clubâ⬠attempts to bridge the gap existing between public and the private discourses while at the same time bringing about values and ideologies that effectively resonates within the private conversations (Wartenberg 43). Reading or watching a film like ââ¬Å"fight clubâ⬠in specific terminologies indicates how it establishes particular notions relating to urgency where members of the white working and middle class are given the opportunity to view themselves as being oppressed and without

Written analysis - Essay Example Giving it as a hypothetical case, if the customer is late queuing in a place, he or she misses out on a business engagement and hence losses money just because poor service provision on part of the business. If it is a personal engagement, an individualââ¬â¢s name carries some costs to it that cannot be quantified. A personââ¬â¢s dignity cannot be bought with money hence making it even a bigger loss. For the company, the losses that accrue from customer queuing are immense. The company only manages to serve very few customers out of a large number of them hence losing on the opportunity to make money. Secondly, the customer who queues in a place waiting to get some services will avoid coming to do business again and will search for such similar services providers. In the common perfect competition and monopolist market structures, the business will obviously lose on customers. There will be no customer loyalty, and hence this will define the end of the business. This can be managed by having many business agents to serve the customer and expand rooms where these services are offered. At Macro, however, the management is very aware of these queues and the costs they have on business. Arguably, they knew how to manage the situation better by avoiding falling in the pitfall. In this era of the technology revolution, the management could not gamble with it and have introduced highly specialized e-services to the clients by liaising with various service providers. As has been the case, word of mouth has been a potent business marketing tool. Word of mouth, in other words, means customer feedback on the services offered at any organization. Customer feedback is number one yardstick that evaluates and determines if the customers are getting services worth time and money. Only if the customers have satisfied with the business will they comment positively and when they are not satisfied, certainly, they would respond negatively. For any

Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Essay Example for Free
Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Essay Organizational behavior is the study and application of knowledge about people or groups of people in an organization. It focuses on what people do and why they do it with aim of improving what they do. Since an organization is a collection of people working together in an organized social structure to achieve a common goal, application of theories and concepts of human behavior is imperative to attain the goals of organizations. Organizational behavior covers areas such as human behavior, leadership in an organization, teams, communications, employee relations etc. Clark, 2008). A study of the organizationââ¬â¢s behavior helps the management to succeed in business opportunities. Human resource management is a strategic approach to the management of employees in an organization. It includes activities such as planning, selection, recruitment and maintaining employees. To sustain high performing employees, ensuring safe working environments and compliance to rules and regulations in an organization are some of the main objectives of human resource management. These objectives can only be attained through efficient analyses of the employeesââ¬â¢ behaviors. Therefore, when human resource management and organization behavior blend together in an organization, they help to bring about strong and active workforce which help the organization meet its strategic goals. Effective policy development in human resources would help management to establish a strong workforce and explore untapped resources and strategies that would improve the organization performance. In order to employ effective policies, the management should make best decisions in a timely manner in a given situation. Human resource managers should be involved in making strategic decisions of the organization such as being informed on the long term plans of the strategic management. To amicably resolve personnel issues and find appropriate solutions to these issues, the management should have proper human resource policies. The policies should incorporate fresh ideas that reflect current situation in the organizations and the current business world in general. Human resources policies ensure that employees receive equal treatment in a wide range of employment issues and in legal matters incase they arise. To effectively develop human resource in any organization, it is necessary to have policies on employeesââ¬â¢ benefits such as educational assistance, retirement benefits, health care and medical benefits etc. Another factor to consider when formulating the policies is the safety, health and security of the employees. Issues such as workplace violence, drugs, crisis management, and diseases like HIV/AIDS should be addressed in policy development. In addition it is important to consider employees relations which entail dispute resolutions and grievances, employees privacy, employees performance management, discipline and the conduct of employees in the organization. Selection, recruitment and placement of employees is a fundamental function in the human resource management. Discrimination in terms of race, religion, sex or in any form should be discouraged in the hiring and recruitment process. In order to improve employeesââ¬â¢ skills and their efficiency, there should be a policy on employee training and development. In conclusion, effective policies should seek to motivate employees whereby they feel comfortable and satisfied hence improve their performance. The human resource should operate in a flexible environment. For instance, employees can operate in shifts where different people start and end their workday at different time. The organization should adopt technologies that would enable the employees to work outside the workplace. A study in organizational behavior shows that different people get motivated in different ways and can perform better under different circumstances. The management should therefore, customize their way of rewarding employees to their particular preferences (Marques, 2007).
